Overview
This day is specifically designed for healthcare communicators who want to put the patient at the centre of their work but also seek to shift from awareness raising to action.
Behavioural science is the most effective way to shift your communications and campaigns from awareness to action, so you can make a profoundly positive impact.
The training is carefully curated so each workshop builds on each other. You will learn the foundations of behavioural science and start using them on a work challenge. For this reason you are encouraged to bring a work programme/ challenge with you. Tick off your to-do list whilst also learning must have skills!
This is a fantastic introduction or refresher to using behavioural science in health communications. It is skills-based training and you finish by 3.30pm able to start using it in your work.
The day is divided in two halves and made up of two workshops.
Morning: Diagnose & empathise.

Afternoon: Design & experiment
- Workshop 3: Behavioural biases & E.A.S.T & how to use them in your work
- Workshop 4: Social norms sprint deep dive & practical application of the day’s learning

Biography: Ruth Dale
Ruth Dale is a coach, trainer, and podcast host of the Behaviour Change Marketing Bootcamp. She has applied behavioural science to marketing and communications for over 15 years to tackle society's biggest challenges, including vaccination, smoking, weight loss, getting active, and mental health.
Ruth has won awards for work on antimicrobial resistance, skin cancer, and reducing demand in A&E. She strongly believes that marketing can have a positive impact, which was demonstrated when she won the HSJ Award for Social Marketing.
Ruth has worked in various roles across the NHS, including in Primary Care Trusts, Public Health in Local Authority, and Public Health England. She has experience running a busy comms department with no budget, responding to press, planning strategy, delivering multiple campaigns, and managing stakeholders.
Ruth is passionate about behavioural science and believes it can add missing notes to the harmony of any campaign.
