Governance

The HCA Board is the governing body for the Healthcare Communications Association (HCA).  The board’s role is to provide effective strategic leadership, direction, challenge, support and guidance.  Board members work in partnership with fellow board members and the Chief Executive to ensure that strategic, business and operational plans support the organisation’s vision, mission and strategic direction and priorities.  Board members provide effective fiscal oversight and ensure sound risk management.
Attracting, retaining and developing the best people to work for the HCA in a paid or unpaid capacity is a high priority. The Nominations Committee takes delegated responsibility on behalf of the Board for identifying and proposing individuals who may act as new members of the board, its standing committees and ad hoc working groups and forums.

Additional committees, chaired by board members, take delegated responsibility for developing and driving specific aspects the HCA’s strategic plan.  These committees are responsible for:

• Standards and Best Practice
• Foresight

The Board delegates responsibility for management and day-to-day operations to the Chief Executive who is supported by a Central Co-ordinator.
